Over the years, Kenya has been acclaimed as a major tourist destination. It is endowed with animal parks, scenic landscapes, beaches, attractive tourist site and rich culture. If you are planning a trip in Kenya, here are a few places you should visit.
Nairobi National Park

Nairobi National Park is a place worth your visit. Located approximately 7 kilometers (10 minute drive) south of center of Nairobi City, With the only electric fence separating the wildlife from metropolis, Nairobi National Park is home to Black rhinos, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, Buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, elands and diverse bird life with over 400 species recorded. It is one of Kenya’s most successful rhinoceros sanctuaries. With its many entrances, it is easily accessible from all over Nairobi whether from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or traveling South from Nairobi City itself.

Mount Kenya

At 17,057 ft, Mount Kenya is the second Highest mountain in Africa after Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Mount Kenya is an ancient extinct volcano that was active several million years ago. Its peak is covered with snow. Mount Kenya National Park was established in 1949 to protect the region surrounding the mountain. The South side of Mt. Kenya receives more sunshine in December to March. During this time, rock climbs are in condition and snow and ice climbs gradually deteriorate. In June to October, the north facing rock climbs are in the best condition. Mt. Kenya is about 150 kilometers Northeast of Nairobi and is accessible by road.

Maasai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara also Known as Masai Mara or Mara is one of the greatest Wildlife Reserves. It is named in honor of the Maasai Community, located in Southwest Kenya. It is famous for its wildebeest and zebra migrations (one of the Seven Wonders of the World) along Mara River, its big cats (lion, cheetah and leopard) and Maasai people.

Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru is one of the Rift Valley Soda lakes located at Nakuru two hours drive from Nairobi City. Lake Nakuru National Park is home to million flamingos, black and white rhinos, warthogs, baboons among others.

Bomas of Kenya

Bomas of Kenya is a cultural Center at Langata, Nairobi near the main gate to Nairobi National Park. Bomas (homesteads) display traditional villages belonging to several Kenyan Tribes. A visit to Bomas of Kenya you will learn differences between Kenya’s major ethnic groups and enjoy traditional performances done by locals of different tribes

Hell’s Gate National Park

Hell’s Gate National Park lies South of Lake Naivasha Northwest of Nairobi. There are over 100 species of birds in the park including Vultures, Verreaux’s Eagles, Swifts etc. Zebra, eland, hartebeest, African bufallo, Thomson’s gazelle and baboons are also common. Hell’s Gate is named after a narrow break (a gate to hell) in the cliffs, once a tributary that fed humans in the Rift Valley Region
